“What the world needs now more than ever is the rarest commodity. What the world needs now is hope.” – Financially Fit President and CEO, Steve Down
Financially Fit in partnership with The Goat Foundation had the privilege of giving 200 goats to 100 widows and their families in Mariakani, Kilifi County in the 7th Cause Giveback on the 8th of November, 2022.
The 7th cause giveback held at PEFA church in Mariakani happened to be the 2nd giveback within Kilifi County, the first being in Majajani village. The region falls under the Arid and Semi-Arid Land (ASAL) region of Kenya. Prolonged drought and inflation have really affected the standard of living for most households. Widowed households, in particular, face quite a challenge in meeting basic needs and accessing essential services such as healthcare due to low or lack of income to afford the same.
Each beneficiary receives a he-goat and a she-goat from the givebacks. The carefully selected breeds can be able to produce milk for family consumption as well as for selling. Together, they are able to reproduce as well as be used for meat production hence improving the family’s cash flow.
As a cause company, we support the cause to ensure vulnerable widows in low-income households achieve sustainable income. A percentage of Financially Fit’s gross sales goes to its nonprofit cause partner, The Goat Foundation.
Cause Capitalism is when a for-profit chooses as its partner a non-profit; not as a gimmick but as a true sustainable partner. Financially Fit supports The Goat Foundation’s cause to ensure a world without poverty, hunger, and injustice in which every widow enjoys the right to live with dignity.
